A well mannered dog is a joy to have as a neighbor, as well as your family companion. To help owners learn how to train their dog, the North Country Kennel Club will offer two seven-week dog obedience classes on Thursdays, July 1 through August 19, skipping July 15. Basic home manners will be taught from 6 to 7 pm. Using positive motivational techniques, owners will learn how to teach their dog to reliably sit on command, lie down, stand, and wait or stay in place, as well as walk on a loose leash and come when called. The first class (orientation) is without dogs. Cost: $65. Advanced obedience/Rally, from 7:30 – 8:30 pm, will be for dogs and handlers who have completed a basic obedience class and would like to have more fun with their dogs. AKC Rally exercises will be used. Cost: $50. Dogs must be current on their inoculations and proof shown at the first class. Class size is limited. All classes will be held at the Exhibition Hall, Alex Duffy Fairgrounds, Coffeen Street, Watertown. For more information and to register, contact Jackie Nichols, 777-5914. |
